The Division of Student Affairs sponsors the Annual Outstanding Student Life Awards Ceremony to recognize FIU students who have excelled academically and in the areas of citizenship, innovation, leadership, diversity advancement, promotion of the Golden Panther spirit, and distinguished service to others. These student leaders serve as a source of pride and inspiration to others by giving unselfishly of themselves in order to enhance campus life and to make FIU a better place for all of us.
The “Outstanding Leadership Award” will recognize four seniors, three juniors, and two students from the each of the following classifications: freshmen, sophomores, and graduate students. Recipients will have exhibited integrity, outstanding quantities of leadership and teamwork, and have a distinguished record of involvement in campus life.
The “Diversity Award” embodies the Division of Student Affairs’ on-going commitment to educate students the importance of valuing and appreciating differences, similarities and uniqueness. This award will recognize a student who enduringly promotes understanding, acceptance and celebration of our diversity.
The “Outstanding Service Award” will recognize the commitment of time and service to others. This award will distinguish one individual and one student group or organization.
The “Spirit Award” will honor a group or individual student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting campus spirit, pride, and loyalty to FIU—a true “Golden Panther”.
The “Kaplan Award” is for students who are planning on entering to a Graduate and/or Professional degree. Two, Kaplan test preparation course scholarships are available.
The “Shining Star Award” recognizes a student, or a group of students, who have introduced a new tradition or innovative idea to promote campus life, and/or the University’s prestige.
The “Presidential Award” recognizes one student who has introduced a new tradition or pursued a program/project that has enhanced campus life and/or the University’s prestige.
