Center for Leadership and Service Present: Dance Marathon 2013
On Saturday, February 9, 2013, over 200 of Florida International University’s (FIU) students will participate in Dance Marathon. Dance Marathon is a 25-hour student-run philanthropy with 100% of the funds benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program at Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. The committee of the 16th annual Dance Marathon (DM) aims to raise $70,000 to add to the $656,817.31 the event has raised since its inception at FIU. Students dedicate their weekend and dance for 25 hours for those who can’t. The event will be held at FIU’s Recreation Center, at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, and will begin on February 9th at noon and continue through February 10th until 1:00 p.m. Dance Marathon and the Center for Leadership & Service invite everyone to join the students and members of the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation staff in making a difference.
DJs, belly dancers, Zumba instructors, dance teams, and many others will provide entertainment for all ages. Bounce houses, games, a photo booth, and a nighttime “Lights Out” dance party will be available for all to enjoy. There will be a number of spirit hours during the marathon dedicated to FIU alumni and staff. In addition, DM Morale Captains will be teaching the renowned Line Dance to all guests and registered dancers. Participants and visitors will hear from the families who will visit throughout the 25 hours to share their personal stories and the impact Dance Marathon has had on their lives.
