Moving Out Summer 2017

Hall Closing

The FIU residence halls close at 12 noon on Saturday, July 29, 2017.  Residents are expected to move out within 24 hours of their last final exam.  Students with exams on Saturday must notify the housing office. 

Extensions will be granted to summer graduates.   Summer graduates living in housing must move out by 10am the day following their graduation ceremony.  

Summer to Fall transitions will be offered to upper-class students who are living in on-campus housing at the MMC campus for fall 2017. See below.

Storage transitions will be offered to first-year students living in Panther Hall who have a housing assignment for fall 2017 and live outside the Miami-Dade/Broward area.  See below.

All other students must check-out by July 29, 2017 at noon without exception.   Failure to leave on this day will result in a $100.00 a day penalty. 

Summer to Fall Transitions (Upper-class Students)

Summer to fall Transitions will occur on the dates below. If you have made plans to leave campus during this time, you must move your belongings out and come back when the halls open on August 19, 2017.

Summer to fall transitions will occur in three phases:

Phase 1- July 29, 2017

Students whose rooms are cleaned and ready in upper-class buildings begin moving.   They will have until 10AM the following day to complete the move. A specific list of rooms can be found at the link below.


Phase 2 – August 4, 2017

Students move into rooms emptied during Phase 1 and additional rooms that are cleaned and ready in Everglades and Lakeview North.  They will have 10 AM the following day to complete their move. A specific list of rooms can be found at the link below.


Phase 3 –August 7, 2017

Students who were unable to move during Phase 1 or 2 may move.  They will have until 10AM the following day to complete their move.  A specific list of rooms can be found at the link below.

Please register for the transition below. 

First Year Break Storage for Students Living Outside the Miami-Dade/Broward area.

Students will be allowed to leave their belongings on the bed of their fall assignment on July 29 for storage over the break period.

Students living in Lakeview South for fall will be able to move their belongings between 9am and 12 noon on July 29.

Students living in Panther Hall for fall will be able to move their belongings to their fall assignment between 1pm and 5pm on July 29.
