We offer Freshman Orientation at both the Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC) and Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC). You should attend orientation at the campus where you plan to take most of your classes during your first semester.
Freshman Orientation at both campuses is a two-day program. Students attending at MMC are required to stay overnight on campus in our designated residence hall and the program runs from 8 am on day one until 4 pm on day two. There is no overnight option for students attending orientation at BBC or the last MMC session, so the program is from 8 am - 6 pm on day one and 8 am - 4 pm on day two. Only schedule for sessions that you can attend in full. Should you miss any portion of your orientation, you will need to reschedule for and attend another session in its entirety.
The Freshman Orientation Fee is $100 ($35 Student Orientation Fee/$65 Resource Fee) for the sessions at MMC and $70 ($35 Student Orientation Fee/$35 Resource Fee) for the sessions at BBC and the last MMC session. There is no waiver available for orientation fees. Your orientation fee covers:
- One night in the residence hall (MMC only except last one)
- Printed resources
- FIU T-shirt, bag, and other materials
Please see all orientation dates for your admission term below. For the most class options, sign up for the earliest session available. Most sessions will open February 1st.
Note: Registration for Orientation is first-come, first-served and sessions will close once they've reached their maximum capacity (FULL). Therefore, no walk-ins will be allowed. Do not book any travel plans until you are registered and confirmed for a specific session.
