Male Mentoring Initiative

About the program

In 2008 a group of undergraduate male FIU students proposed a mentoring program to the Vice President for Student Affairs, because they saw the need within FIU to support our minority male students. Thus the MPAS Male Mentoring Initiative came into existence, led by the Department of Multicultural Programs and Services (MPAS). Since then, the department has mentored students and conducted  workshops to support the need and development of the male student population here are FIU.

The program is designed to create an atmosphere of academic, social, and professional success for male students enrolled at Florida International University. Male Mentoring Initiative seeks to develop male college students using a curriculum model that aligns with the university strategic goals. These points include: Nurture Diversity, Global Engagement, Civic Responsibility and Commitment, and Academic Success. This program provides the support strategies that fosters retention and higher graduation rates.

The goal is to support our male students during their journey through college. We provide various workshops and services that addresses the many needs of our male student population at FIU. We welcome you to stop by the office and utilize the various services MPAS has to offer. Our staff is dedicated to providing to you with mentoring, free tutoring, educational workshops, advising and a selection of diversity programs.
