Marketing and Communications

Are you trying to get the word out about a new program, event or opportunity for students? In partnership with External Relations, we offer support for marketing and communications needs for Student Affairs departments and further branding the division. Services range from strategic planning, copywriting, multimedia productions, graphic design, social media strategy and more.

Branding and Logo Guidelines

The Florida International University name and logo are more than just tools for identification. Our name is a promise to our community and to our students, past, present and future. The Division of External Relations manages brand integrity for the university and provides guidelines, graphics and templates for consistent application of the brand across campus and in various mediums. In line with these guidelines, the Division of Student Affairs has created a branding and logo guideline document which outlines usage of the Student Affairs labels and those of its departments.

All Student Affairs departments are expected to abide by these standards set forth by Student Affairs and FIU.

For questions regarding labels and usage, please email Cristina Jaramillo, account manager, marketing and public relations for Student Affairs.

Website Standards

Websites and mobile applications are an important part of FIUs outward facing brand experience. Because of this, Digital Communications must approve all website and mobile app designs that bare the FIU logo. Any website or mobile application launched without the approval of Digital Communications is subject to removal, at the expense of the unit or office.

Training guides are available for Cascade and Webforms and will help you manage your Student Affairs website content. Student Affairs departments may also request banner space on the website for special events and initiatives.

For questions regarding all Student Affairs department websites, please email Sofia Trelles, senior executive assistant, office of the vice president for Student Affairs.

Domain Policy

A customized Web address can be a powerful marketing tool if used correctly, but there are important factors that must be taken into consideration when creating domains, some of which may affect FIUs institutional brand.

If you are considering a subdomain for your Web presence, please contact Cristina Jaramillo, account manager, marketing and public relations for Student Affairs. Domains that jeopardize FIUs institutional message or are not in line with Web best practices may be subject to correction or removal at the discretion of the Division of External Relations Digital Communications team.

On-Campus Marketing Tools

There are a number of ways to get your event or program on people's radar.

Putting your event on the calendar should be step one!

FIU's online news portal, maintained by the Office of News and Communications.

Student Media

Sometimes the best way to reach students is to talk directly to them! and The Beacon are both student-run media read by FIU students. Both also offer opportunities for advertising.

Social Media

Interested in promoting your department? Social media pages are a great way to grab students attention and promote your services.

Student Unions also provide marketing services to on-campus, student-centered events.
