The Residential Life team works hard on creating and hosting events for residents year round. Resident-only events are within walking distance from all the residence halls, and happen almost daily so residents can stay active and involved in their community!

  • August

    Knock Knock

    Knock Knock is an annual event put on by the Office of Residential Life during the first week of classes for the Fall Semester. Faculty and staff knock on the doors of our First Year students introducing themselves, answering questions, and giving tips to surviving college!


  • September

    Lakeview Carnival

    The Carnival is a large-scale event coordinated by Lakeview North and South that is focused on supporting FIU Homecoming as well as Parent and Family weekend. Attendees can always look forward to carnival games, inflatables, food, various performances, and a good time for everyone. Last but certainly not least, the carnival is free for students, family, and friends!

  • October

    A Halloween Affair

    A Halloween Affair, put on by the staff and Hall Council of University Apartments, is a night of terror celebrating Halloween (in a safe and fun way!). This event is put on in collaboration with SGA, RHA, and the FIU Theater Department featuring a haunted house, costume contest, food, and more.


    Roar for the Cure 5k Event

    Roar for the Cure is an event that provides FIU students, faculty, and staff a chance to participate in a 5k relay in the name of someone that is battling or has battled cancer. The program is a collaboration between RHA, the Women’s Center, and the College of Medicine at FIU. This is not only a fun and engaging event, but also one that is educational and connects community.


  • November

    Thanksgiving Dinner

    The Thanksgiving Dinner is a RHA sponsored event that provides residents who are not going home for the holidays with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, giving them an opportunity to socialize with friends, and meet other residents. There is music, food, drinks and dessert.

  • December

    Fall Formal

    The Fall Formal put on by NRHH celebrates the end of the fall semester, creates an opportunity for the residents to socialize and network, and recognizes students for their hard work over the course of the semester. There is food, live entertainment, a DJ, dancing, and students have the opportunity to showcase their talents and are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire to this event.

    Black Out Green On

    Black Out Green On (BOGO) is an annual event that promotes sustainability and awareness of sustainable practices and serves as a partnership between the Sustainability Committee, SGA, RHA, and the Office of Sustainability. There is food, music, and live entertainment and it is for the entire campus community.

    Dean’s List Gala

    The Dean’s List Gala is an annual event hosted by the Office of Residential Life each Spring Semester to honor the residential students who made the Dean’s List for the Fall Semester. FIU Deans, residents, and their family, friends, and professors attend this event.  It's a night to get dressed up and celebrate the hard work and dedication our residents have to their education!



  • March

    Masquerade Ball

    The Masquerade ball is a community wide event open to all housing residents hosted by Panther Hall. Students are encouraged to wear their semi-formal attire to celebrate. It is a night of music, food, and fun!

    Lord of the Wings

    Lord of the Wings is a new RHA-sponsored event, where various food vendors visit campus to offer their best items to be contested with our FIU students. Winning items are recognized, and students get a chance to try various types and styles of wings within the larger Miami-Dade area. There are fun games and prizes in stored too for those who students who participate and have fun with us!

    Those Panthers Got Skills

    Those Panthers Got Skills is an open mic/talent show style event hosted by Everglades Hall. Residents are given the opportunity to show off their skills and talents whatever they may be - poetry, music, dance, and more! It is a night of entertainment where our residents are the stars!


  • April

    Block Party

    The Block Party is a large-scale event hosted by Parkview Hall staff and Hall Council in collaboration with RHA. This event is an opportunity for the community to socialize and have fun while playing games like football, dodgeball, kickball, twister, and more! Of course no block party is complete without food! This event offers sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, and classic barbeque items just to name a few!


    Chalk Walk

    The Chalk Walk presented by University Towers is an art based collaborative program with campus partners. This event exposes students to the growing art community of Miami and FIU in a fun way. In past years the Chalk walk teamed up with SPC's GLOW Jam and residents had the opportunity to witness a large outdoor glow-in-the-dark experience. In the heart of the Residential Quad, glow-in-the-dark chalk art, activities, and games were illuminated by ultraviolet light. The event offers free food, giveaways, music, and performances.
