LGBTQA

The Mission of the MPAS LGBTQA initiatives at Florida International University is to meet the needs of the LGBTQA Student population, by developing and implementing educational, social, and resource programs and services. These initiatives are aimed at reducing homophobia and heterosexism on both campuses through education, advocacy, awareness and assisting our LGBTQ students in reaching their full potential!

FIU celebrates its heritage as a diverse university in a diverse community and is committed to the full participation of all of the campus community in campus life. FIU has lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning students, faculty, and staff, and a strong base of allies (LGBTQA). Through campus organizations and offices, and informational networks, FIU provides a range of educational and social programs, lectures, academic courses, and leadership development opportunities for students and others. From student groups that meet weekly, to a LGBTQA Mentors Program, National Coming Out Day and Pride Month planning, student advocacy groups, a certificate program in Queer Studies, a lively Facebook page, and informal socials, there's something for everyone seeking to get involved in the LGBTQA community at FIU.
