MLK Commemorative Celebration

'Our Unity is Our Strength'

For more than twenty years, Florida International University’s Office of Multicultural Programs and Services have hosted the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration. The planning for this Celebration commences up to ten months in advance to pay homage to one of the world’s greatest leaders. The premier event, the MLK Breakfast, has evolved from a university event into a world-class community event, attracting many local dignitaries and schools all looking forward to attending this annual celebration of Dr. King’s life and legacy. It has grown from a single event to a month-long series of events that include the Youth Forum & Peace Walk, Day of Service, Museum Exhibit, Dinner and representation at the MLK Day Parade held in Liberty City, Miami. This commemoration is accomplished by the strong collaboration with many departments and colleges at the university.
