Panhellenic Council

  • About

    Panhellenic recruitment offers an opportunity to meet chapter members and peers while learning what each sorority has to offer. Throughout the process, Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas) can answer all questions that may arise while participating in recruitment. Participating in the recruitment process does not require a person to join a chapter, but enables them to explore and learn more about the Greek community. This is a great way to meet new people and find out more about different ways to get involved on campus. This process is intended to be a positive, fun, and enriching experience for everyone who participates

  • Membership Requirements
    • Must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours during the semester of recruitment participation.
    • Students must have a minimum grade point average of:
      • FIU/Transfer students: 2.5
      • First Time in College: 2.75
      • Please be advised that these are minimum Fraternity and Sorority Life requirements, most chapters require a higher minimum GPA for membership consideration.
  • Panhellenic Recruitment Events

    The Panhellenic Council will be hosting four Pre-Recruitment Social events to offer potential new members the opportunity to meet and ask questions about recruitment and what it entails to join.

    The dates and themes of conversations are:

    Pre-Recruitment: Dive into Philanthropy – Being in a sorority means giving back!
    Wednesday, July 7: 7pm • Graham Center (GC) Ballrooms

    Pre- Recruitment: Due-ing Life in Palm Springs – Budgeting for Membership
    Wednesday, July 21: 7pm • Graham Center (GC) Ballrooms

    Pre-Recruitment: Sunny and Shady – Do’s and Dont’s of Recruitment
    Wednesday, August 4: 7pm • Graham Center (GC) Ballrooms

    Attendance at these events is not required to participate in recruitment.

    Panhellenic Recruitment Dates:

    • Sunday 8/15: Meet Your Rho Gamma 7 PM - 10 PM in the Graham Center Ballrooms
    • Monday 8/16: FREE DAY: NO RECRUITMENT EVENTS
    • Tuesday 8/17: Round 1 Sorority 101 10 AM- 8 PM Virtual
    • Wednesday 8/18: Round 2 Philanthropy 10 AM- 6 PM In Person
    • Thursday 8/19: Round 3 Preference 10 AM- 6 PM In Person
    • Friday 8/20:  FREE DAY: NO RECRUITMENT EVENTS
    • Saturday 8/21: BID DAY 11 am - 6pm Hybrid/In-Person & Virtual

    How To Register:

    We are extremely excited to know that you have an interest in joining a sorority at Florida International University! We take pride in bringing women from various backgrounds together to become part of our amazing sisterhoods. Please read the information below thoroughly because you must agree to these terms before submitting an application.

    It will take 30-45 minutes to complete the registration form. In addition, you are only allowed to register ONCE. If there are duplicate registration forms from the same person, Panhellenic reserves the right to use the first registration form completed within the system. Please verify that your information is correct when registering.

    Things You Will Need To Register:

    1. A laptop or desktop computer should be used when registering.
    2. For remote recruitment activities, a reliable internet connection is necessary
    3. Chapter members will focus heavily on this registration form. Please be sure to list all extracurricular activities, honors, community service, and work experience. It is strongly encouraged that you have a resume available. Your registration form should mirror your resume.
    4. Your high school transcript or a recent grade report card
    5. A recent, professional-looking headshot photo
    6. Your t-shirt size.
    7. Payment by debit or credit card is required at the time of registration. The registration fee is non-refundable.
    8. Essay: Please upload a Word or PDF document addressing the questions below. Please limit each response to 200 words or less. Of the 10 questions listed below, please choose 3. Be sure to include your name and Panther ID in the top right corner.
       Questions:
      1. What made you decide to go through recruitment?
      2. What has been your biggest achievement and why?
      3. What do you believe to be the most important quality in a person and/or your most important quality?
      4. How do you personally handle criticism?
      5. Can you list any weaknesses that you are aware of and what you’ve done to overcome them?
      6. What do you think is the biggest myth about Greek life?
      7. What are you most excited about in your time at FIU?
      8. Who is a female role model of yours?
      9. What is the best college advice you have gotten so far?
      10. What is something that brings a smile to your face?
    9. All of these items must be submitted at the time of application. Once submitted, your application is final. You will not be able to edit, revise, add or remove any information.
    10. The registration fee for Fall 2020 Virtual Recruitment is the following:
      1. Early Bird Fee (through Aug 9) is $43
      2. Regular Registration Fee (Aug 10 - Sept 6) is $53
      3. Sorority recruitment applications will not be completed until the fee is paid.
      4. REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 11:59 PM (ET) on Sept. 6, there will be NO exceptions.

Interfraternity Council

  • About

    Interfraternity Council recruitment offers an opportunity to meet chapter members and peers while learning what each fraternity has to offer. Throughout the process, IFC Ambassadors will answer all questions that may arise while participating in recruitment. Participating in the recruitment process does not require a person to join a chapter, but does provide them an opportunity to explore and learn about the campus and Greek community. This is a great way to meet new people and find out about different ways to get involved on campus. This process is intended to be a positive, fun, and enriching experience for everyone who participates.

  • Membership Requirements

    Requirements for Membership:

    • FIU students/ transfers: a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA
    • First semester freshmen: 2.75 GPA (unweighted)
    • Must be enrolled in a min of 9 credit hours in the spring/ fall semester

    How To Register for Fall Recruitment:

    1. A laptop or desktop should be used when registering. You will also need this for the virtual recruitment events as most of them will be conducted virtually.
    2. A reliable internet connection for virtual recruitment events.
    3. The registration process may take about 10-15 minutes.
    4. Register through the GreekXperience at: https://go.fiu.edu/FraternityRecruitment
    5. You MUST complete the registration form in order to be eligible for fraternity recruitment.

Multicultural Greek Council

  • About

    New members of MGC are selected by member organizations through the Member Intake Process (MIP) or New Member Education Process (NME) based on specific qualifications and criteria. MGC chapters are guided by membership identification and selection standards that promote the development of the individual and what the individual can bring to the respective chapter.

    The MGC requires all prospective members to attend one workshop session of MGC 101 held various times during each fall and spring semester. This workshop is designed to educate potential new members about joining MGC organizations, anti-hazing policies (local, state, and national), the new intake membership process, the application process, and interview tips, and more. Please follow the FIU MGC Instagram account for the dates of when these workshops will be scheduled. Also, follow our organizations to stay updated about informational sessions to join their respective organizations!

National Pan-Hellenic Council

  • About

    The local National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is currently composed of five (5) International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, and Phi Beta Sigma.

  • Member Intake Process

    All aspiring candidates for NPHC organizations MUST register and complete the NPHC 101: Intake Workshop to be considered eligible for membership into one of our organizations. There is a $20 registration fee associated with this workshop. This seminar is designed to educate new members about joining NPHC organizations, anti-hazing policies, (local, state, and national), the new intake membership process, application and interview tips, and more.

    Please follow the FIU NPHC Instagram Account for dates and times of the upcoming NPHC 101 workshops. You will be billed once you complete your registration. You will not be allowed to attend the workshop unless you have paid your registration fee. Once you have completed this workshop you will be eligible to submit your application to your organization of choice once that chapter is open for intake.

    New members of NPHC are selected by member organizations through the Member Intake Process (MIP) based on specific qualifications and criteria. NPHC chapters are guided by membership identification and selection standards that promote the development of the individual and what the individual can bring to the respective chapter.

    Member Intake Process Components include:

    • Intake Seminar Pre-Induction / Orientation Period (Interest Tea or Meeting)
    • New Member Education Program
    • Final Induction Ceremony (Initiation).
