Panhellenic Council Recruitment Information

Panhellenic recruitment offers an opportunity to meet chapter members and peers, while learning what each sorority has to offer.  Throughout the process, Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas) can answer all questions that may arise while participating in recruitment.  Participating in the recruitment process does not require a person to join a chapter but enables her to explore and learn more about the Greek community.  This is a great way to meet new people and find out more on different ways to get involved on campus.  This process is intended to be a positive, fun, and enriching experience for everyone who participates. Ideally it will lead women to identifying their home while on campus and a chosen family for the rest of their lives! This year as a result of COVID-19, Panhellenic Recruitment will be completely virtual as to minimize the risk of infection.

Membership Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours during the semester of recruitment participation.
  • Students must have a minimum grade point average of:
    • FIU/Transfer students: 2.5
    • First Time in College: 2.75
    • Please be advised that these are minimum Fraternity and Sorority Life requirements, most chapters require a higher minimum GPA for membership consideration.

Panhellenic Pre-Recruitment Social Events

The Panhellenic Council will be hosting four Pre-Recruitment Social events to offer potential new members the opportunity to meet and ask questions about recruitment and what it entails to join. The dates and themes of conversations are:

Attendance at these events is not required to participate in recruitment but will give you insight on what to expect!

Panhellenic Recruitment Dates:

Thursday, September 10: Meet Your Rho Gamma (Recruitment Orientation)
Saturday & Sunday, September 12: Weekend 1 of Formal Recruitment
Saturday & Sunday, September 19: Weekend 2 of Formal Recruitment
Sunday, September 20: Bid Day

Potential New Members should be available the whole day for recruitment events. Asking for the day off from work will be necessary in order to participate.

How To Register:

We are extremely excited to know that you have expressed interest in joining a sorority at the Florida International University! We are always extremely proud to bring together women of various backgrounds to comprise our amazing sisterhoods that bring various perspectives and opportunities to empower women of all backgrounds. Please read the following information thoroughly because you must agree to the following terms before submitting this application.

It will take 30-45 minutes to complete the registration form. In addition, you are only allowed to register ONCE. If there are duplicate registration forms from the same person, Panhellenic reserves the right to use the first registration form completed within the system. So, please make sure your information is correct when registering.

Things You Will Need To Register:

  1. A Laptop or Desktop should be used when registering. You will also need one of these to participate in Recruitment as our recruitment process this year is fully virtual.
  2. A reliable internet connect will also be necessary for registration and most importantly for recruitment days.
  3. Chapter members will focus heavily on this registration form. So, please be sure to list all extracurricular activities, honors, community service, and work experience. It is strongly encouraged that you have your resume available. Your registration form should mirror your resume.
  4. Your High School Transcript or a Recent Grade Report Card.  See Section "B" below.
  5. A Most Recent Head Shot Photograph
  6. Your T-Shirt Size.
  7. Payment by debit or credit card is required at the time of registration. Registration fee is non-refundable.
  8. Essay: Please upload a Word or .PDF document addressing the following questions. Please limit each response to 200 words or less. Of the 10 questions asked, please choose 3. Be sure to include your name and Panther ID in the top right corner. Questions:
    1. What made you decide to go through recruitment?
    2. What has been your biggest achievement and why?
    3. What do you believe to be the most important quality in a person and/or your most important quality?
    4. How do you personally handle criticism?
    5. Can you list any weaknesses that you are aware of and what you’ve done to overcome them?
    6. What do you think is the biggest myth about Greek life?
    7. What are you most excited for in your time at FIU?
    8. Who is a female role model of yours?
    9. What is the best college advice you have gotten so far?
    10. What is something that brings a smile to your face?
  9. All of these things must be submitted at the time of application. Once submitted, your application is final. You will not be able to edit, revise, add, and/or remove.
  10. The registration fee for Fall 2020 Virtual Recruitment is the following:
    1. Early Bird Fee (through Aug 9) is $43
    2. Regular Registration Fee (Aug 10 - Sept 6) is $53
    3. Sorority recruitment applications will not be completed until the fee is paid.
    4. REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 11:59 on Sept. 6, there will be NO exceptions.

Interfraternity Council Recruitment Information

Interfraternity Council recruitment offers an opportunity to meet chapter members and peers, while learning what each fraternity has to offer. Throughout the process, IFC Ambassadors will answer all questions that may arise while participating in recruitment. Participating in the recruitment process does not require a person to join a chapter but does enable them to explore and learn about the campus and Greek community. This is a great way to meet new people and find out about different ways to get involved on campus. This process is intended to be a positive, fun, and enriching experience for everyone who participates. As a result of COVID-19 our IFC recruitment at this time will be a hybrid recruitment process that will be mostly virtual but will have very few in person components.

Requirements for Membership:

  • FIU students/ transfers: a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • First semester freshmen: 2.75 GPA (unweighted)
  • Must be enrolled in a min of 9 credit hours in the spring/ fall semester

How To Register for Fall Recruitment:

  1. A laptop or desktop should be used when registering. You will also need this for the virtual recruitment events as most of them will be conducted virtually.
  2. A reliable internet connection for virtual recruitment events.
  3. The registration process may take about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Register through the GreekXperience at: http://go.fiu.edu/FratenrityRecruitment
  5. You MUST complete the registration form in order to be eligible for fraternity recruitment.

Multicultural Greek Council Recruitment Information

New members of MGC are selected by member organizations through the Member Intake Process (MIP) or New Member Education Process (NME) based on specific qualifications and criteria. MGC chapters are guided by membership identification and selection standards that promote the development of the individual and what the individual can bring to the respective chapter.

The MGC requires all prospective members to attend one workshop session of MGC 101 held various times during each fall and spring semester. This workshop is designed to educate potential new members about joining MGC organizations, anti-hazing policies (local, state, and national), the new intake membership process, application process, and interview tips, and more. Please follow the FIU MGC Instagram account for dates of when these workshops will be scheduled. Also, follow our organizations to keep abreast of when they will be offering informational sessions to join their respective organizations!

National Pan-Hellenic Council Recruitment Information

The local National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is currently composed of five (5) International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, and Phi Beta Sigma.

Intake Process

All aspiring candidates for NPHC organizations MUST register and complete the NPHC 101: Intake Workshop to be considered eligible for membership into one of our organizations. There is a $20 registration fee associated with this workshop. This seminar is designed to educate new members about joining NPHC organizations, anti-hazing policies, (local, state, and national), the new intake membership process, application and interview tips, and more.

Please follow the FIU NPHC Instagram Account for dates and times of the upcoming NPHC 101 workshops. You will be billed via square once you complete your registration. You will not be allowed to attend the workshop unless you have paid your registration fee. Once you have completed this workshop you will be eligible to submit your application to your organization of choice once that chapter is open for intake.

Member Intake Process Components include: Intake Seminar Pre-Induction / Orientation Period (Interest Tea or Meeting), New Member Education Program, and Final Induction Ceremony (Initiation). Names and titles of new member programs vary by organizations.
