Victim Empowerment Program

Due to classes moving to remote learning and in an abundance of caution, we are currently operating remotely.

If you experience an emergency, call police as follows:

· On-Campus FIU Emergency: 305-348-5911.

· Off-Campus Emergency: 911

The CAPS/VEP Call Center began operating on 4/21/20. Please be careful to listen to the instructions when you call. Be ready to give your name, phone number, Panther ID and email address to the receptionist.

CAPS/VEP scheduled appointments will be held over the phone or by videoconference (through a HIPAA-compliant platform).

Your clinician will call before your scheduled appointment to determine your current needs. Your message will be returned in a timely manner. (Note: Calls from CAPS/VEP during remote services may appear to be from a private or blocked phone number.)

We look forward to hearing from you!

The Victim Empowerment Program’s (VEP) mission is to provide free confidential assistance to FIU students, faculty, staff and university visitors who have been victimized through threatened or actual violence and to support the healing process. In addition, the center seeks to enhance safety and promote healthy relationships by sponsoring awareness activities, prevention education, peer education and collaborating with university officials. Through clinical practice and research, the VEP aims to contribute to the body of knowledge and influence public policy regarding issues related to victimization.
