Pump iron in the fully-equipped fitness complex, shoot hoops at the full-size basketball court, take a jog through the scenic walking trail or explore the beautiful bay from the Kayak Launch. Want something more team-oriented? Our fields support club and intramural sports teams that feed your competitive spirit. Our facilities have just about every interest covered.

Aquatics Complex

The Aquatics Training Center is located on the Biscayne Bay Campus, overlooking the bay. It is fully furnished and provides an environment for conversation, study or sunbathing. The multipurpose design of the 50-meter by 25-yard pool and stand-alone diving well allow for recreational and instructional use. The aquatic complex is professionally operated with its own staff of certified swim and CPR/first aid instructors. Lifeguards are always on duty.

Locker Rooms

The locker rooms are located in the Fitness Center and Wolfe University Center first floor restroom. Locker rental is available to all FIU community members on a semester basis. To rent a locker, please bring a photo ID and fill out the paperwork with our Fitness Center front desk staff Monday-Sunday.

Gender Neutral Restrooms

Our Aquatic Center restrooms are locked on deck and are the only gender neutral restrooms on the Biscayne Bay Campus. Wellness and Recreation - BBC is proud to lead the way in creating inclusive recreational environments for all at our facility through updated facilty signage.

Basketball Court

Our full-size basketball court is a lighted area with seating located throughout the perimeter. It's one of the busier spots on campus and students and visitors can be found shooting hoops regularly throughout the day. It's is also home to the department's intramural basketball league in the spring.

Biscayne Bay Kayak Launch

The Biscayne Bay Kayak Launch is located behind the Aquatic Center and to the right of the Chaplin School of Hospitality Management. The launch is composed of a grassy picnic area with outdoor benches and a pebble-rock-filled beach area that is used to launch kayaks and paddleboards. The grassy part of the launch is great for eating or just relaxing under a shaded tree. The launch area is used for getting vessels in and out of the bay. The area is also surrounded by mangrove trees and giant boulders. The kayak launch has a road way to make driving in and out of the area a breeze. For your safety, swimming is not allowed in this area.

Fitness Complex

The Fitness Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that allows all visitors the opportunity to exercise the mind and body in a fun and safe environment on campus. Located in WUC 160, the Fitness Center opened in October 2007 and is now one of the main hot spots on the Biscayne Bay Campus.

Group X Studio

Overlooking the beautiful Biscayne Bay, our group exercise studio features a state-of-the-art Bose sound system with space to accommodate dance, yoga and strength training classes with ease. Complete with mirrors and balance bars this space offers serenity or high energy excitement depending on the class in session.

Intramural Fields

The intramural fields are a popular site for programming on campus but is the primary home for the BBC Futbol club and the department's intramural football and soccer leagues.

Tennis Center

The tennis center is a newly renovated facility on campus that will play host to the continuing growth of tennis in South Florida. With lights, windscreens and bleachers, the facility is easily accessible to players and spectators during operating hours.
