Las Olas Volunteers

Gain leadership experience and give back to the endurance sport community! This group coordinates the water station on the run course and water bottle exchange on the bike course at the Las Olas triathlon. Spend your spring break cheering athletes and making new friends while enjoying an ocean view!

Benefits to holding a council of equals member position includes:

  • Experience a new leadership structure @ FIU called "Council of Equals" based on the servant leadership philosophy of Robert Greenleaf, Parker Palmer. The council of equals organization structure equally distributes power and control of the organization from a couple of positions to the entire body, allowing for the organization to practice social justice, equality and humanity
  • Network with professional staff at the university and Multriace
  • Professional photo shoot and bio created and located on club website
  • Stipend earned based on club funding and council consensus
