Tri Club at FIU

The Tri Club at FIU was founded in October 2011 by a few PhD students who decided to take on the adventure of training for the inaugural FIU Triathlon scheduled for Spring 2012. Since then, we have grown to include faculty, staff, alumni and community members who train each Saturday during the Spring and Fall semesters mostly at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus but sometimes you will see us on Key Biscayne, Fort Lauderdale Beach or Hollywood.

The tri club is a place for FIU students, faculty, alumni, and members of the local community to learn about and take part in triathlons (swimming, biking and running). We meet by the pool at the Biscayne Bay campus (3000 NE 151st St North Miami, FL 33181) each Saturday and Sunday morning except when the University is closed for holiday. Saturday we swim in the pool and on Sunday we swim in the Bay. We have bicycle and running routes that are around and near the campus. In an effort to promote safety and smart training, we have lifeguards and certified coaches to help with training. The club is FREE for FIU students, and to FIU faculty, alumni, and members of the community there is a one time fee of $75 for the full year (this is an incredibly low price for a triathlon club in the South Florida area! Parking alone at a beach or park could be $10 for a day). Bring with you something to swim in, bike in and run in, and bring a bike and helmet if you have one. If not the FIU club does have some extra bikes to loan for the day of training (and there is also the option to use the stationary bikes in the gym).

Our club competes, volunteers and plans triathlon and running events.

FIU students are always free to join.
