  • Chat With FIU Competitive Sports

    Want to find out how you can take part in competitive sports while remote learning? Join the WRC's Competitive Sports department for a virtual chat to learn how you can get involved by playing in online leagues and tournaments.

    Become a champ online! Sign up to play FIFA 20 on either X-Box or Playstation 4. Registration for this league runs from April 27 - May 12. The season will take place May 13 - June 3. Open only to FIU students or faculty/staff. Sign up: go.fiu.edu/intramural.

     

    How It Works:

    You will be responsible for challenging your opponents to matches.  You may challenge 5 spots up/down. You may decline 2 challenges. Two teams can play each other up to 3 times. You must complete 4 matches by 6/4/2020.

    If the worse seeded opponent wins then they will take the better seeded opponent's place and the better seeded opponent will move down 1 spot, if the better seeded opponent wins then both opponents will remain in their current rankings.

Body and Brain

The WRC is excited to partner with Body and Brain to offer the FIU community virtual programming. 

As such, we are offering 3 weeks of online live classes that include:
1. Mindfulness tools
2. Breathing
3. Meditation
4. & Mind Body exercises 
 
These classes will be held three times a week, free of charge, as a public service for anybody who needs it. 
Each week through guided exercises we will focus on different aspects of personal development. The program will start May 18th until June 5th.
The curriculum includes:
May 18th: Introduction to Mindfulness
May 20th: Connecting Mind and Body
May 22nd: Understanding how to manage your pain
May 25th: Improve Focus
May 27th: Make a Cool Head and Strong Core
May 29th: Emotional Management
June 3rd: Breathing Well June 5th: Turn Off Stress Response, Turn On Healing Power Times:
Each Day there is a class there will be an opportunity to take class at 8:45AM and 7:30PM

    The core is known as the "powerhouse of the body" as it provides strength and stability in all movements throughout our day. Core & More is a class suitable for all fitness levels that will feature exercises to help strengthen the core, abdominal muscles and lower back.

  • Bootywork Dance (Mon)

    Bootywork Dance is the ultimate body dance workout that mixes body sculpting movements with dance steps using the upbeat sounds of Hip Hop and pop. The dance routines feature aerobic training that focuses primarily on the glutenous maximus, abdominal core, quadriceps, hamstrings, and the heart.

Virtual Personal Training

  • Sign up today

    The WRC is now offering virtual personal training services. Your personal trainer will coach you from the comfort of your home. Workouts are personalized to fit your fitness goals, no matter where you are and what you have at home. You do not have to be a WRC member in order to take part in virtual personal training. Payments must be made via FIU One Card. All participants must fill out this form.

  • Maximizing Your Virtual Athletic Training Services Experience

    Virtual Consultations are offered via the Zoom app. The following types of athletic training appointments are available:

    · Athletic Training Evaluation Consultation

    · Athletic Training Rehabilitation Consultation

     

    Equipment needed to participate in telehealth appointment:

    a. An electronic device such as a computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

    b. Headphones. Wired headphones are preferred over Bluetooth to maximize security.

    c. Download the Zoom app on the device you plan on using for Teleservices.

     

    Scheduling your appointment:

    a. Call 305-348-3656 and leave a message with your name, PID, and a call back number. An ATS staff member will call you to schedule your appointment. Please note the call will appear to be from either a blocked or unknown number. b. Email atservices@fiu.edu and leave a message with your name, PID, and a call back number. An ATS staff member will reach out to you to schedule your appointment. Please note a response will occur from the either the atservices@fiu.edu email address or a call from a blocked or unknown number.

    c. Once your appointment is scheduled you will receive an email to your FIU account informing you of your appointment date, time, and unique link for your Zoom appointment.

    d. Make sure you complete any forms associated with your appointment. The forms are necessary for your provider to prepare adequately for your session. If your forms aren't completed PRIOR to your appointment, the length of your appointment will be Impacted.

     

    The day of your virtual appointment:

    a. Keeping your appointment time-The provider will wait 10 minutes into the appointment time. If you do not log into the session within 10 minutes, the provider will log off the session and It will be considered a missed appointment.

    b. Maximize your confidentiality- Select a location for your appointment where you have the privacy to talk. Use a headset (preferably wired) so you can keep your conversation private.

    c. Log in to MyHealthInfo Web portal to obtain your Zoom meeting information. Click on the link to access your meeting from the device where you downloaded zoom.

    d. Visibility: To ensure your provider is able to best consult on your injury or condition make sure the area of injury is in view of the camera. You will also want to ensure you are appropriately dressed to expose the area of concern for injury evaluation or move comfortably for rehabilitation exercises.

     

    During your consultation

    a. Your provider will conduct a brief Introduction and will confirm the reason for your appointment. They will also confirm your identity.

    b. You will be asked for a call-back number in case you or the provider run into technical difficulties. Please be advised that if there are technical difficulties the provider will call you on the call-back number from a blocked/unknown number.

    i. What to do If you lose connection- If you lose connection, try to log In to the meeting again using the link

    After the consultation

    a. After the consultation you will receive a brief survey regarding your experience with the virtual appointment. Your feedback Is critical in improving our virtual appointment experience.
