The Healthy Living Program is offering the following virtual appointments via the Zoom app:

Limited On-Site Services

  • How We Are Keeping You Safe?
    • Masks are required at all times, in the building and in order to receive services.
    • Limited appointments are available to make sure all working areas are clean. 
    • Social distancing - stay 6 feet apart
    • Pre-packaged condoms are available for pick up.
  • Massage Therapy

    Beneficial for stress management, muscle tension, pain, and can improve circulation, which can result in improved overall function. Enjoy a Free 10 Minute Massage!

    Hours/Availability

    A limited number of massages are available during regular operating hours at both the MMC (Monday- Wednesday, 10AM- 4PM) and BBC (Tuesday, 1PM- 4:30PM) campuses. Free massage appointments can only be made the day of the service.

    Please call the Healthy Living Office to make an appointment.

    Please note: In order to keep FIU students and our providers safe, sessions will take place in the SHC hallway and provided in a regular chair.

  • Acupuncture Combo

    Based on the idea of energy flow, Healthy Living provides a variety of acupuncture services.

    • Auricular Acupuncture: Free for FIU students
      • A needle-free service that involves the pressure points in the ear.
    • Acutonics: Free for FIU students
      • Uses vibrational tuning forks at different frequencies to move energy throughout the body.

    Please note: In order to keep FIU students and our providers safe, sessions will take place in the SHC hallway and provided in a regular chair.

  • Safe Sex Materials

    Pass by and pick up pre-packaged sexual health resources from Healthy Living that include:

    • Condoms
    • Lubricant
    • Female Condoms
    • Dental Dams
    • Flavored Condoms

    Sexual health resources are available at both the MMC (Monday- Wednesday, 10AM- 4PM).

  • Aromatherapy

    Free essential oils are available at the Healthy Living Program. Our blends harmonize and promote health of the body, mind, and spirit. Use aromatherapy for stress relief, mood enhancement, and increased cognitive function.

  • What You'll Need
    Equipment needed to participate in telehealth appointment:
    1. An electronic device- computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet
    2. Headphones with a microphone- preferably wired, not Bluetooth, to maximize security.
    3. Download the Zoom app on the device you plan on using for Telehealth.
  • Scheduling Appointments

    Scheduling your appointment:

    1. Call 305-348-4020 during operating hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, excluding 12pm-1pm for lunch). If you call after hours or during lunch, you will be asked to leave a message with your name, Panther ID number, a call back number, and a brief reason for your call. An HLP team member will call you to schedule your appointment. Please note the call may appear to be from either a blocked or unknown number.
    2. Once your appointment is scheduled you will receive an email to your FIU account informing you of your appointment information. You can also log in to MyHealthInfo Web portal to obtain your Zoom meeting information. Click on the link to access your meeting from the device where you downloaded zoom.
    3. Make sure you complete any forms associated with your appointment. The forms are necessary for your provider to prepare adequately for your session. If your forms aren't completed PRIOR to your appointment, the length of your appointment will be impacted. You can access these forms via MyHealthInfo Web portal.
  • What to Expect
    The day of your virtual appointment:
    • Keeping your appointment time-The provider will wait 10 minutes into the appointment time. If you do not log into the session within 10 minutes, the provider will log off the session and It will be considered a missed appointment.
    • Maximize your confidentiality- Select a location for your appointment where you have the privacy to talk. Use a headset (preferably wired) so you can keep your conversation private.
    • Log in to MyHealthInfo Web portal to obtain your Zoom meeting information. Click on the link to access your meeting from the device where you downloaded zoom.

    During your consultation

    • Your provider will conduct a brief Introduction and will confirm the reason for your appointment. They will also confirm your Identity.
    • You will be asked for a call-back number in case you or the provider run into technical difficulties. Please be advised that if there are technical difficulties the provider will call you on the call-back number from a blocked/unknown number. 
      • What to do If you lose connection- If you lose connection, try to log In to the meeting again using the link
    After the consultation
    • After the consultation you will receive a brief survey regarding your experience with the virtual appointment. Your feedback Is critical in improving our virtual appointment experience.
  • Safety and Wellbeing Standards

    Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional Students at FIU are expected to adhere to the highest standards of integrity in every aspect of their lives. Therefore, students are expected to keep the same standards of behavior for our virtual consultations that you follow for in-person appointments.

    The safety and well-being of our staff and students is our foremost concern. The Healthy Living Program (HLP), along with FIU, has zero tolerance for acts that compromise the safety and well-being of members of the University community.

    Examples of compromising acts and behaviors include but are not limited to:

    • Exposure of oneself to a provider
      • Intentionally exposing one’s sexual organs
      • display of sexual behavior that would reasonably be obscene or indecent to others.
    • Advances made to a provider
    • Verbal Abuse – using extreme or excessive language
    • Behavior that substantially and/or materially disrupts, disturbs, impairs, interferes with or obstructs the orderly conduct, processes and functions of the Healthy Living Program or the rights of other Members of the University community.
    • Psychological Abuse - intimidates, dominates, terrorizes, humiliates, or isolates any other person

Virtual Services

  • Health Consultations

    Learn how to manage your health properly and make it a priority by coming to see a health educator for a free, one-on-one consultation on the following topics:

       • Stress & Time Management

       • Sleep Management

       • Sexual Health

       • Nutrition Education

       • Asthma & Allergies

       • Substance Use

    Hours

    Consultations are one-hour in length, and are available Mondays through Fridays during regular FIU operating hours.

    If you are unable to schedule a consultation service, make sure you check out our online resources that have plenty of information about stress, sleep, sex, nutrition, and more!

  • Dietitian Services

    Learn how to eat healthier and develop a positive relationship with food. Our registered dietitian provides individual nutrition counseling on topics such as:

    • Weight loss
    • Specialized diets*
    • Healthy eating
    • Nutrition goals
    • Meal planning

    *for chronic disease management: i.e. diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc.

    After booking your appointment, log into your Student Health Services portal by using your FIU username and password. Please fill out our Dietitian Initial Form and our Food Log Form.

  • Sound Therapy Consultation

    Relax to the soothing sounds of singing bowls, rain sticks, chimes, and more as they produce different frequencies to correlate with the chakras in the body! This 10 minute  session will help with various conditions including blocked energy, anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of focus and pain management.
