Stressed, can’t sleep, want to eat better, or just want to be healthier? Our services cover a variety of your wellness needs. Explore the many different on campus opportunities below to Relax, Feel Good, and Be Well.

  • Health Consultations

    Learn how to manage your health properly and make it a priority by coming to see a health educator for a free, one-on-one consultation on the following topics:

       • Stress & Time Management

       • Sleep Management

       • Sexual Health

       • Nutrition Education

       • Asthma & Allergies

       • Substance Use

    Hours

    Consultations are one-hour in length, and are available Mondays through Fridays during regular operating hours at both the MMC and BBC campuses.

    If you are unable to schedule a consultation service, make sure you check out our online resources that have plenty of information about stress, sleep, sex, nutrition, and more!

  • Massage Therapy

    Massage Therapy

    Beneficial for stress management, muscle tension, pain, and can improve circulation, which can result in improved overall function.

    10 Minute Massage: Free for FIU students

    30 Minute Massage: $25 for FIU Students, Faculty, and Staff

    60 Minute Massage: $50 for FIU Students, Faculty, and Staff

     

    Hours/Availability

    A limited number of massages are available during regular operating hours at both the MMC and BBC campuses. Free massage appointments can only be made the day of the service. 30 and 60 minute massage appointments can only be made up to one month in advance.

  • Aromatherapy

    Free essential oils are available at the Healthy Living Program. Our blends harmonize and promote health of the body, mind, and spirit. Use aromatherapy for stress relief, mood enhancement, and increased cognitive function.

    Available on the MMC and BBC campuses for FIU students, staff, and faculty during regular operating hours.

  • Acupuncture

    Based on the idea of energy flow, Healthy Living provides a variety of acupuncture services.

    • Traditional Acupuncture: $25 for FIU students & faculty/staff
    • Auricular Acupuncture: Free for FIU students
      • A needle-free service that involves the pressure points in the ear.
    • Acutonics: Free for FIU students
      • Uses vibrational tuning forks at different frequencies to move energy throughout the body.

    Hours

    Currently, acupuncture sessions are available at the MMC campus on Tuesdays and Fridays in the early afternoon. Auricular and Acutonics appointments can only be made the day of the service. Traditional Acupuncture appointments can be made up to one month in advance.

  • HIV Testing

    Maintain your sexual health, and get tested! Currently, Healthy Living offers free, confidential testing for the following:

       • HIV

       • Hepatitis C

    Testing at the MMC Healthy Living office occurs every Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM till 3:30 PM. Appointments can only be booked on the day that you would like to be tested. Call The Healthy Living Office to make your appointment.

  • Sexual Health Resources

    Pass by and pick up sexual health resources from Healthy Living that include:

    • Condoms
    • Lubricant
    • Female Condoms
    • Dental Dams
    • Flavored Condoms

    Sexual health resources are available at both the MMC and BBC campuses during regular operating hours.

  • Energy Therapy

    Reiki is a healing technique utilized by massage therapists based on the principle that energy can be channeled into the recipient by means of touch. Reiki is said to activate the natural healing processes of the body, and restore physical and emotional well-being. The massage therapist will begin by clearing the air of any stagnant or negative energy, and then continue to read the current state of the recipient’s chakras.

    Crystal Healing can be used in combination with Reiki to draw energy to the 7 chakras of the body, and encourage balance in the mind, body, and spirit.

     

    Hours

    Available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8AM till 4PM, and Tuesdays from 8AM till 12PM only at the MMC campus.

    Reiki: Free for FIU Students

    Crystal Healing: Free for FIU Students

    Cranio-Sacral Facial Massage: Free for FIU Students

     

    All energy healing appointments can only be made the day of the service. Please call The Healthy Living office to make your appointment.

  • Dietitian Services

    Learn how to eat healthier and develop a positive relationship with food. Our registered dietitian provides individual nutrition counseling on topics such as:

    • Weight loss
    • Specialized diets*
    • Healthy eating
    • Nutrition goals
    • Meal planning

    *for chronic disease management: i.e. diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc.

    Dietitian services are free for FIU students, and are $30 per session for FIU faculty/staff.

    Hours

    Appointments are available at the MMC Campus from Monday to Thursday from 8AM to 4PM. Availability at the BBC campus varies, please call the BBC Healthy Living office to see what hours dietician consultations are available for that month.

    Making an Appointment

    To make an appointment, call the Healthy Living office during regular operating hours.

    After booking your appointment, log into your Student Health Services portal by using your FIU username and password. Please fill out our Dietitian Initial Form and our Food Log Form.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Due to high patient demand and the limited availability of appointments, the Healthy Living Program has institued a "No Show and Late Cancellation Policy". Timely cancellation will allow this appointment time to be offered to another individual.

    On your third no show for an appointment you will not be able to receive that service for the remainder of the semester.

    Patrons who cancel their appointment PRIOR to the cancellation period for appointments will not be considered a late cancellation or no-show.

    What counts as a "no show" or "late cancellation"?

    Student:

    Our no-show and/or late cancellation policy applies in the following situations:

    • For appointments scheduled in advance (dietitian, paid appointments, health consultations)
      • Comes in 10 minutes AFTER the appointment's scheduled start time
      • Cancels the appointment LESS than 24 hours prior to the appointment
    • For appointments scheduled on the same-day of service (free massage, reiki, acupuncture combo, STI/HIV testing)
      • Comes in 5 or more minutes late for appointment
      • Does not show up for appointment
      • Cancels appointment less than 1 hour prior to the appointment time

    Faculty/Staff:

    • For appointments scheduled in advance (all paid appointments)
      • Comes in 10 minutes AFTER the appointment's scheduled start time
      • Cancels the appointment LESS than 24 hours prior to the appointment
    • For appointments scheduled on the same-day of service (STI/HIV testing)
      • Comes in 5 or more minutes late for appointment
      • Does not show up for appointment
      • Cancels appointment less than 1 hour prior to the appointment time

    How do I cancel my appointment to avoid being a no-show or late cancellation?

    You can cancel your appointment by:

    • Calling the Healthy Living Prograwm at 305-348-4020 for MMC Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm or 305-919-5307 for BBC Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm
    • Come in person to our officed to cancel your appointment: SHC180(MC) or WUC307(BBC)
    • Cancelling via the Student Health Portal accessible by visiting shc-portal.fiu.edu and log in with your FIU credentials
